The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (A-G ACNP) track prepares graduates to provide independent and collaborative management of young, middle-aged, and older adults from diverse populations suffering from acute, critical, or chronic illnesses. The program emphasizes the stabilization and management of this population in various settings. Practice sites are variable but focused in high-acuity inpatient settings.
Various clinical sites are available but must be within the state of Florida. Travel may be required periodically for structured clinical learning experiences. Individualized clinical learning experiences are arranged in appropriate healthcare settings. A-G ACNP graduates are eligible for national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).
- For the Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP track, at least one year of critical care experience (ICU/Emergency Department) is preferred.

Progression in advanced practice nursing tracks requires supervised and precepted experience in specialized clinical settings throughout the semester in Florida. Students admitted to progressive practice nursing tracks are advised that they may be required to travel to clinical sites within Florida for these experiences. If unable to do so, progress in the curriculum will be delayed.
