About Allison K Peters

TEACHING

Dr. Allison Peters has served as an educator in several areas of nursing including Undergraduate Clinical Practice, Undergraduate Skills Lab Instructor, Undergraduate Didactic/Classroom Lecturer, Online Course Instructor, Graduate instructor, DNP chair and Transition to Professional Practice advisor.

She has been uniquely involved as an active team member, course and clinical instructor in the initiative of the Care, Lead and Inspire Curriculum as well as part of a small cohort designing a new DNP Executive Leadership/Innovation/Informatics curriculum.

RESEARCH

Dr. Peters’ primary focus of research is in teaching, as well as engagement in nursing practice. She has presented her research findings locally, nationally and internationally.

SERVICE

Dr. Peters is active in several nursing organizations at all levels including the American Nurses Association, Association of periOperative Registered Nurses, Florida Nurses Association, National League for Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau. She serves at the College of Nursing level as a member of the Faculty Executive Committee and is a member of the Curriculum Implementation Team. She is a Textbook reviewer for Pearson Clinical Nursing Skills as well as a Clinical Expert for Perioperative Nursing Skills for Elsevier Clinical Skills. She has served as a Marshal and Processional Leader for the University of Florida Commencement Ceremonies.

Research Profile

Dr. Peters’ primary research goals are directed toward teaching innovations with a focus in nursing engagement. Other areas of expertise involve operating room nursing and management, leadership and advocacy in nursing practice & policies as well as emergency and medical-surgical nursing practice. Her national certification is in perioperative nursing.
